Second year at GITEX AFRICA: New partnerships, fruitful meetings, and a memorable time
achievement thumbnail

We returned to Marrakech for the second consecutive year to participate in Africa’s largest tech event, GITEX Africa. To kick things off, GP Laila Hassan shared the stage for an insightful discussion on “the good, the bad, and the ugly” of building, funding, and scaling in Africa from an investor’s perspective.

Another highlight was our meeting with H.E. Ahmed Nihad Abdel Latif, Egypt’s Ambassador to Morocco. We discussed Algebra’s commitment to investing in Morocco and explored potential bilateral collaborations. Joining us were two founders from our portfolio: Ayman Essawy of Connect Money and Marwan Kenawy of Dsquares, both of whom have ambitious expansion plans in Morocco.

Additionally, Algebra hosted the second edition of our flagship networking event, “Cuisine & Connections,” with FMO – Dutch entrepreneurial development bank returning as a co-host, and welcoming strategic partners BREEGA, Connect Money, and Endeavor Morocco, creating a truly dynamic team 🌟. We take pride in this partnership and eagerly anticipate further collaborations throughout the African continent.

Nevertheless, this isn’t just a networking event; it’s a continuation of our journey that began a few years ago with our first investment in a Moroccan company. To reinforce our commitment to the Moroccan market, we launched ‘Cuisine & Connections’ last year on the sidelines of GITEX Africa 2024. This year, we are proud to return, welcoming key partners, investors, founders, and enablers for the second consecutive year. It was a pleasure to connect key stakeholders together, in a relaxed setting, fostering engaging conversations and strengthening relationships.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this trip. See you next year, GITEX Africa!
